How does the grocery list work?

Gust auto-generates your grocery list from the current week's meal plan, then subtracts everything you already have in your pantry.

Where to find it

Tap the Groceries tab.

You'll see a categorized list (Produce, Protein, Dairy, Pantry, etc.). Each item shows the quantity needed and the recipes that use it.

Check items off

  • Tap an item to mark it bought.

  • Tap again to uncheck.

Checked items move to the bottom of the list and stay there for the rest of the week.

Order via Instacart

For supported regions, Gust can pre-fill an Instacart cart:

  1. Tap Order on Instacart at the top of the grocery list.

  2. Pick a retailer for your zip code.

  3. Instacart opens with your list as a cart.

You complete checkout in the Instacart app or website. Gust may earn a small commission β€” this helps keep development going.

Single-recipe orders

In any recipe view, tap Order ingredients to send just that recipe's ingredients to Instacart, without affecting your weekly list.

Excluded staples

Pantry staples (salt, oil, common spices) are excluded from the list by default β€” Gust assumes you have them. Override per-staple in Profile β†’ Staple Exclusions.

Adjustments mid-week

When you swap a meal, the grocery list updates automatically. Items already checked off stay checked.

Travel Mode

When Travel Mode is on, the Groceries tab is hidden β€” your weekly plan is paused, so there's no list to fetch. Turn off Travel Mode to bring it back.
