The pantry is a list of ingredients you already have. Gust uses it to suggest recipes that minimize what you need to buy, reduce food waste, and shrink your grocery list.
Add to your pantry
You have three ways to add items:
1. Manually
Open the Pantry tab.
Tap + in the top right.
Search the ingredient and tap to add.
Adjust quantity if needed.
2. Barcode scan
Pantry β Scan Barcode.
Point at the package barcode.
Gust matches it to an ingredient.
3. Fridge photo scan
See "How do I scan my fridge or a restaurant menu?" for details.
Why it matters
The weekly meal plan generator and the Pantry-friendly recipes strip both check the pantry before suggesting meals. The more accurate your pantry, the better Gust's recommendations get.
Pantry-aware grocery list
When Gust generates your weekly grocery list, it automatically subtracts what you already have. If you've got 200 g of chicken in the pantry and a recipe calls for 300 g, the grocery list shows 100 g.
Update quantities
Tap any pantry item to adjust the quantity (units, grams, ml, or pieces depending on the ingredient). Set quantity to zero to remove.
Pantry staples
Common ingredients like salt, oil, and pepper are flagged as "staples" β Gust assumes you always have them. You can override this in Profile β Staple Exclusions if (for example) you're out of a specific staple.
